Four rectangular panels and one small square, stiffened with firm card, are joined to create an open box.

The separate cushion is covered with stretch velvet and supported with a firm card frame. Bargello and blackwork designs, worked with coloured silk, decorate the sides and fob, and initials and the year are stitched onto the base.
