Description
The traditional embroidery of Guimarães in Portugal is characterized by the predominant use of bullion knots and dynamic, monochromatic colour schemes.
Red is the chosen colour for this superb drawstring bag, stitched with an open basket of lush, stylized blooms onto pure white linen.
Customarily unlined, the bag demonstrates the controlled thread path on the back of the work and short back threads that typify this style of embroidery. A hem stitched line at the upper edge holds the drawstrings in place and the bag is finished with tassels at the lower edge.
